"SPEAK ENGLISH"
So you want the truth about this card.??? Ok, this is it. It is what it says it is. I think everyone that complains about it is from a non-english speaking country. The cardholder agreement is in english. If you dont read or understand the english language you should have called a friend or family member to read it to you.....I came on this site before I applied for the cards about seven months ago. I saw the positive reviews and the negative reviews. I decieded to try the card because the positive reviews seemed to be comming from educated people while the negative reviews were either from non-english speakers or from people that were not making sense. In the seven months that I have had this card my score has gone from 540 to 620. I think I have used the card for rental cars and hotels only and have paid it off every time......

THATS THE TRUTH.

Most attractive feature: It has the power of a credit card. It will rebuild your credit score

"Is anybody there? Can I speak to someone?"
Geico Platinum Mastercard issued by New Millenium Bank.

I rec''''d a letter that my card was being turned off for being inactive for an extended length of time. I called 1-800-720-1801 to speak with a representative of the credit card.

I spoke with a call agent and she informed me there was no way to turn the card back on. I asked to speak with her supervisor.

She transferred me to Scott Mclean. He claimed his title was Team Leader. He informed me that he works for a company that contracts with Geico and refused to give me the name of his employer **or** his direct line. He said the only info he was authorized to release was that he works in Pittsburgh for the card services division of Geico. I asked repeatedly for contact info for somebody with Geico that I wanted to speak to about my cancellation. He said he had no such number. I asked to speak with his supervisor and he told me I could speak with Nick Zilavy. I asked for Nick Zilavy''''s title and was told that he was also a Team Leader. I refused to speak with him and told him I would hold to speak with his supervisor.

After 5 minutes of waiting, he transferred me to Charlotte Jameson who claimed to be the Senior Manager of card services. She once again refused to give me a phone number for any decision makers with Geico **or** New Millenium Bank. She told me it would be a "waste of time" to send a letter to her office because the decision had come down to cancel all inactive accounts. She also refused to give me the name of her employer and told me she works for a call center that works under contract for Geioc.

I am very dissatisfied and disappointed that this is how a company can treat a customer.

Do not apply for a card from Geico **or** New Millenium Bank if you would like to be able to speak with an actual representative of the company.

"Expensive, but card does exactly what it's advertised to do"
Most of the negative reviews are from people who somehow thought the card was unsecured, though the advertising as well as terms & conditions couldn't be any clearer.

I needed this car for car rentals. For all other purchases I see no advantage in using a secured card instead of a check or debit card. Since there's no grace period what I do is pay immediately online after I make a charge. The payment is credited immediately, though it takes a week for the credit to become available.

As far as the steep cost, it's stated clearly upfront, so I have no objection. I couldn't stomach the thought of being declined for a secured card, so I didn't even try the competitors (the fact that the competitors' cards were generally pretty tacky looking may have contributed to this decision). There are lots of little costs that come with bad credit, but in this case at least there's no hit to your dignity as well.

There was a little glitch in the application process, but they were very nice about it and took care of it quickly. I suggest you follow up a couple weeks after your application to be sure it isn't held up.

"This card helped me out the hole!"
In March 2005, I discovered that my past debts had cleared away and that my credit score was ZERO...a clean slate! I got this New Millennium MasterCard and cautiously used it for exactly 12 months. I never increased my $300 limit. I only charged $200 at a time. I sent in 3x the minimum payment due. After 7 months, my credit score skyrocketed to 620! After a year, it's now 730! Wow! I immediately applied for a REAL credit card and was approved for $4,000! I sliced up my New Millennium card and now have 2 other credit cards with 0% rates and grace periods. I mention all this because New Millennium is an easy-to-get way to boost your credit. (Yes, there are drawbacks and pricey fees but who else is gonna take a chance on poor credit people like us? There are prices to pay when you don't look good on paper.) I would never, ever KEEP it for extended, regular use. Instead, I'd recommend that people use it as a tool ONLY. After a year of flawless use, this card will really payoff and, when you cancel it after 12 months, you get your deposit back as well as the interest it accrued. You may also want to use it for 11 months and cancel BEFORE you get hit with those sky-high fees. Again, think of this card as a TOOL to TEMPORARILY use to boost your credit standing. Who knows? It may help improve YOUR credit just enough to get a regular card, too!

"Just Got My Cards with NO Problem!"
I also read the previous whiners and it's evident that some either don't read the terms/conditions - which aren't in fine print, or they don't understand the concept of getting a secured card while you have bad credit. It's gonna cost ya'!

I preferred getting the 2x Gold Cards (Visa & Master Card) instead of the one Platinum. Two is better than one on a credit report and platinum only appeals to the public's emotions of feeling special. There's really no advantage in having the one platinum card. I made the deposit(s) through MonyGram and received my cards in about 10 days.

I also made the mistake of applying months ago and not sending any deposit. On this subsequent application, I sent a 2nd application fee, called and told C.S. about my blunder and they said no problem with playing the first extra $69 on one of my deposits. They problem I had with C.S. was the wait time before they pick up. Took about 10-15 minutes. But they were polite and helpful. If you lose your mind with them, I'm sure you'll get the same in kind.

My only gripe is that I got my cards in the mail on Saturday and my 1st bill on Monday with the annual fee on each. THAT was a bit too fast! But one must do what one must do! I'm glad that I can now rent a car without calling my wife to come with her card! (How humiliating!) Good luck to all.

"Why Is Everyone Crying???"
I looked at all the reviews on this page. Why is everyone crying? I could tell by most of the nay-sayers that they did not COMPLETELY READ exactly what they needed to do to obtain this card from NMB. I followed the instructions to the T and had my card the next day. I used money gram, I paid extra for over night. I also just increased my limit to 1100.00. I sent the payment sunday night by money gram and it was posted Monday (the next business day like it says if you send it on the weekend)by 11:00am. I do not like the no grace period, but I do not go crazy with the card. I only spend what I can pay in full when the statement arrives. As a matter of fact I don't wait for the statement in the mail. As soon as it is availible online I pay it through my checking account. Sure it takes a couple of days to post but I don't wait til the last minute. They give you plenty of time between recieveing the bill (or online statement)and the date it's due. Don't get angry with the NMB because you procrastinate and wait til the last minute to pay then get hit with late fees. As far as customer service, I am a truck driver and was on the road when I had my card sent to where I would be. NMB's customer service went out of their way to facilitate getting the card to the location I would be at the next day. I sent in my application, The Deposit and fees one day and just like they promised the card was in my hand the next day. If you are serious about repairing your credit these people will help you do that. You also have to do your part, as far as using online to pay your bill when it first comes out, or by money gram so the payment is accepted within 2 to 4 hrs on week days. I think that all the negativity is from people who have damaged their credit and expect some quick overnite fix. Well that isn't going to happen. I am a satisfied customer of NMB. They did EVERYTHING their paperwork said they would do. I suggest if you are having so many problems with NMB then go back and READ your paperwork. If you can't do that then find someone that comprehends english to READ IT FOR YOU. It is all there in black and white. What they do and what they don't do.

"Total waste of time"
This card appears great at first.

You give them the application fee, then the song and dance starts. First its send us a cashiers check and we will get you the card right away. Wrong, they don't sent the card they send another form to verify the original application. They want copies of drivers license or utility bill to verify address. Even though they are sending the form to this address to be filled out. After this they want a copy of your social security card. You give someone a copy of your drivers license and a copy of your social security and "hello" identy theft.

Then there is supposed to be double your application fee if denied. Wrong again read the fine print. 6 months later you will still not have your original deposit back. Didn't you tell them in writing you want your deposit back. Or thats the line after months of denial.

This is not a good option for those needing immediate credit

Most attractive feature: Took my money so I could not use the funds.
Least attractive feature: Keep sending follow up paper work that is supposed to verify info
